Bromley: A Happy Place To Live

Published: 11/01/2021

No matter the year, happiness should be important to all of us. However, in 2020, it is likely that happiness is a key aim for many families and households. Where you stay has a significant impact on how you feel, and how equipped you are to take on the world.

With remote working set to become a key feature of everyday life as we move forward, it is likely people and families will have more freedom in moving further away from their place of work. With this greater sense of freedom, prospective buyers can focus on a wider range of factors when deciding where to live.

Happiness will matter more, and it is pleasing to know Bromley is listed highly when it comes to enjoying a happy home life in the capital.

Bromley has an abundance of green space for residents to enjoy

Every year Rightmove polls people about life in the UK, and in 2020, more than 21,000 people shared their thoughts on what their home area is like. Bromley, in the South East of the capital, was one of the highest ranked locations in London.

When you consider two-thirds of Bromley is green space, it isn’t hard to see why so many people felt at home here, especially in 2020.

Buyer demands have shifted in recent times. The annual Zoopla review of buyer search terms saw gardens, parking and garage spaces in the top three demands for buyers.

Green space is at a premium in London

In London, garden space is at a premium, but with parks and green space close to home, a lot of people feel relaxed in their surroundings. The idyllic settings of Bromley scored well, and fit naturally alongside places like Richmond Upon Thames, Kensington and Chelsea, Kingston upon Thames, and Waltham Forest.

Tim Bannister of Rightmove said; “Lockdown has enabled people to rediscover what’s on their doorstep, and spending more time in their local areas has made people value their surroundings and communities so much more. This year’s study shows a greater appreciation for green spaces and nature, and a strong correlation between people living in coastal and rural areas and how happy people are where they live.”

Whether you need some respite from The Glades Shopping Centre or you are keen to take five minutes to yourself in the heart of Bromley, Queen’s Gardens are a fantastic option. At two and a half hectares, this ornamental garden is a compact yet impressive section of green space in the heart of the community.

The Queensmead Recreation Ground is another fantastic option. This is a space adored by families, with plenty of space for dog-walking, and activities for the kids.
